When you think of the cement and Ready Mix industry, you don’t think it’s a very sexy operation, but we are struggling to find talent, certainly in our team on the IT side. Commercial delivery drivers are constantly rotating in and out of our company, and we can’t find them. It’s a challenge. So we have better people with fleets who understand this.
We need to find better and different ways. We’re putting tech into the cabs of the trucks. We’ve had that for a couple of years now. I think we actually did that during the pandemic, and it was helpful. So we’re trying to make the driver’s experience a little easier and simpler, and the SDN (Software-Defined Networking) is the core for everything that we do. We’ve had a good learning experience, and it’s very highly reliable at this point. So we’re happy with that. Jumping gears, we’re exploring with Max and his team the mobile device as a service. That’s something we’re really interested in.
